Pre-School Gallery

Here at Pre-School, we understand that every child is a superstar, and they all have their own special way of learning! It's not one-size-fits-all, and that's the fun part! We make sure our day is packed with activities for every kind of learner. At Pre-School we make sure every single child feels smart, successful, and excited to jump into the next new adventure! It’s all about helping your child discover their best self!

We absolutely adore taking our learning adventures outside! There is just something magical about fresh air and the wide-open world that makes little brains light up. We see the outdoors as a truly vital, extra classroom where every child gets to be a busy, hands-on explorer!

Mark making is an exciting part of your child’s learning journey! Whether they’re painting, drawing in sand, or making lines with their fingers in mud, every mark is special. These early scribbles help children build strong hands, good coordination, and the confidence to express their ideas. At Pre-School we love seeing the joy on children’s faces as they explore and create! You can join the fun at home too — let them make marks anywhere and everywhere. Every swirl, squiggle, and scribble really does matter!

Maths in Pre-School  is all about play and exploration! Children develop early maths skills as they build towers, sort toys, share snacks, and sing number songs. Through these everyday activities, they learn about counting, shapes, size, and patterns — all while having fun. We encourage curiosity and problem-solving by using real-life experiences, like pouring water into different containers or finding “who has more.” You can support this at home by counting steps, spotting shapes, or comparing sizes together. Early maths is everywhere — and it’s full of fun!

We have been learning all about families! The children have loved sharing photos, stories, and talking about the special people in their lives. We’ve explored how every family is unique and how we all belong to the wider St Matthew’s School family. Through play, songs, and stories, children are learning about love, kindness, and caring for one another. We celebrate that everyone’s family is different — and that together, we make one big, happy school family!

This term, we have been using the story Whatever Next! to spark our imaginations and go on amazing adventures! Just like Baby Bear, the children have been creative with cardboard boxes — turning them into rockets, boats, cars, and so much more! We’ve explored space, the farm, the ocean, the forest, and the jungle through play, stories, and art. It’s been wonderful to see the children using their imaginations, working together, and sharing ideas. Who knew a simple box could take us on such exciting journeys?
