Welcome to Year 6 with our amazing teachers: Mrs Copeland and Mr Ward. We are working very hard to prepare children for their live in Secondary School in September.
Maths and English will be given on a Wednesday and expected back in the following Monday. Children also have a times table challenge on a Thursday and a spelling test on a Friday.
Y6 have PE on Wednesday and Friday. Please ensure correct kit is in school on both days.
Our final topic is called ‘Lights, Camera, Action!’ and is another science and technology topic. We will be learning that light appears to travel in straight lines and
use the idea that light travels in straight lines to explain that objects are seen because they give out or reflect light into the eye. We will also cover why shadows have the same shape as the objects that cast them.
The topic also covers elements of electricity – we will compare and give reasons for variations in how components function, including the brightness of bulbs, the loudness of buzzers and the on/off position of switches. We will investigate the brightness of a lamp or the volume of a buzzer with the number and voltage of cells used in the circuit and use recognized symbols when representing a simple circuit in a diagram.
As well as our topic we will be practicing and presenting our end of year play: Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies. We know the children are looking forward to this and trust it is going to be a huge success!
If you have any questions please feel free to come and speak to us :)
