Welcome to Year 2!
Our classes are called 2C- Mrs Mayer and 2H- Miss Hope. We are fortunate to have our experienced TA’s, Mrs Beetham, Miss Richardson, Mrs Ormson Mrs Riley, Mrs Motala and Mrs Henderson, to help us learn!
In Year 2 we learn through lots of ways including drama, play, research and experiences. We want the children to love what they learn and realise how it relates to their own lives.
Our topic this half term is ‘Where the wild things are’ which is a science based topic. We will be looking at living and non-living things, how to stay fit and healthy, classifying animals and talking about their habitats. Within PSHE we will learn to understand what a healthy lifestyle is thinking about food, exercise and general wellbeing. In computing we will be linking our work from, ‘Where the wild things are’ within our English to make photo stories and collecting data and statistics within mathematics.
Things to do at home: To continue your children’s learning at home we send home a reading book, library book and homework every week. Please try and read with your children as much as possible, even if it is just 5 minutes, and ask them questions about the book. Little and often will make a huge impact to your children’s love for reading!
