Previous funding 2014/15

Our pupil premium allocation for the academic  year 2014/2015 was£188,000.

Below is an outline of how this money was allocated to support the pupils at St. Matthew’s.

KS1 Nurture

£50,000

This has had an impact on narrowing the gap for those Key Stage 1 pupils at risk of falling behind.

KS2 BIP/PST

£50,000

This area has been successful in supporting those children at risk of exclusion. In the last two years, our school has had zero exclusions as a result.

Interventions support (1 staff per year group from years 1-6)

£70,000

This is for targeted intervention programmes operating in each year group, and is aimed at narrowing the gap in attainment for vulnerable children. Each intervention is carefully monitored for impact, and cover a wide range of curriculum areas.

Study support

£5,000

The aim is for every child in school to participate in at least one study support/ extra curricular activity. This is leading to increased self esteem and a greater desire to attend school. This supports the attendance initiative, which have delivered the best attendance percentage the school has achieved.

Attendance and punctuality initiatives

£2,000

We have recently introduced a school walking bus designed to ensure vulnerable children are in school on time and receive breakfast prior to learning. To date this has increased attendance and reduce lateness.

Resources/trips – subsidies

£4,000

Our aim is that no vulnerable child will miss out on any curricular based activity through an inability to afford fees. School subsidises activities, trips, breakfast club, after school care club and equipment so that all our children can participate fully. In Year 6 for example we help with the outdoor adventure residential to Hothersall Lodge, resulting in the highest attendance figures for this academic year.
